We specialise in Plexr, a non-surgical eyelid lift (also known as a plasma eyelid lift) that rejuvenates the eye area by tightening the skin for a fresher, more youthful look. What is Plexr?

light blue pill

Considered soft surgery, Plexr is particularly effective around the face and neck. The device we use utilises plasma energy to turn solid substance into gas (sublimation), which contracts, shortens and tightens skin fibres, reducing excess skin and giving natural results.

An impressive alternative to surgical blepharoplasty, the results achieved with Plexr are comparable but much less invasive. It doesn’t require cutting the skin, stitches or as much downtime after treatment, the risks are fewer, and the cost is significantly less. Another benefit is that it doesn’t require a general anaesthetic.

Plexr comprises three handheld devices: red, white and yellow, each with different voltages and functions to treat various concerns. The wand causes ‘sublimation’ or an ‘arc’ of energy which creates small dots spaced closely together on the skin to tighten and lift.

Hooded eyelids have always been a difficult issue to solve. That is until Plexr, a revolutionary new technology, came along. Plexr replaces the scalpel and is much safer.

“My preference is for the original Plexr system, which boasts the most research of all similar machines. Plexr also has a very rigorous training programme where only doctors are permitted to be certified in using this machine – and rightfully so. In terms of results, I cannot find a replacement for it. Plus, it fits in completely with all the other treatment modalities that we have. What more can one ask for?”

What is Plexr used for?

Before and after three sessions of Plexr

The most frequent use for Plexr is as a non-surgical treatment for hooded eyelids. However, that isn’t its only use! This treatment can be applied to a wide range of areas that require skin tightening including:

  • Eyes: eyelid correction, drooping, hooding, excess skin or wrinkles

  • Face: smokers lines, smile lines, crows feet

  • Jaw, neck and décolletage: jowl and sagging under the chin, neck and chest (turkey neck)

  • Body: stretch marks and scars, belly button, warts

Plexr is also suitable for those with sun-damaged skin, fine lines and wrinkles, and acne scarring.

The Harpal way

We prefer a holistic approach even when assessing the skin and ageing in general. Whilst our doctors are happy to treat a single area, we prefer to look at the face as a whole and treat it as such – especially if you come to us with the goal of shaving years off your appearance.

As a functional medicine clinic, we can approach anti-ageing from multiple angles. We will listen to your concerns and goals and work with you to achieve them by addressing all layers of the skin. A combination of Plexr with Botox and/or fillers may be most appropriate for you. Dr Bains will discuss this with you during your consultation.

How long do the results of Plexr last? Is Plexr blepharoplasty permanent?
The results of Plexr are technically permanent. However, it’s important to remember that it won’t prevent future signs of ageing, and your skin will continue to age naturally.

What happens during Plexr treatment?
After a consultation with the doctor, we’ll cleanse and apply topical anaesthetic to the area 20 minutes before treatment. The treatment process takes 90 minutes, including anaesthetic to numb the skin to relieve pain. You will feel mild discomfort during treatment.

What happens straight after treatment?
Immediately after, you will see redness and some small brown dots on the treated area. These will form into scabs which must be kept dry for the next few days. Over the coming hours, some burning or tingling is normal. There will be swelling and further crusting, which may last around seven days. The area will be tender for a few days following treatment. We advise you to arrange transport home after treatment.

After treatment, we advise strictly no makeup or cleansing. You should only apply products we recommend, which will help with wound healing. You’ll be advised on aftercare and home care protocols during your appointment.

How long does Plexr take to heal?
We advise you to allow up to one week of recovery time post-treatment.

How long until I see results?
Plexr results appear after a few weeks, with optimal results showing around the three-month mark. During this time, your skin will tighten and contract.

Is Plexr safe? What are Plexr side effects?
Plexr is a safe treatment that has been used for years with no significant side effects. However, as with any treatment, there is always a risk. Rare side effects include infection and scarring. Pigmentation may be an issue and so a good quality SPF is essential post treatment.

How many Plexr sessions will I need?
The number of sessions needed depends on the severity of your concern and your desired result. This will be discussed during the consultation. You’ll only need to repeat the treatment after the natural appearance of ageing occurs over time.
