IV Vitamin Therapy
IV drips are an increasingly popular alternative to oral vitamin supplementation. But what are IV drips? Instead of taking a daily tablet(s), which can take months to build up levels in the blood, the vitamins are delivered directly into the bloodstream via a cannula in the vein – usually at the inner elbow. This bypasses the gut, where many nutrients can be lost. A one-off or course of IV drips are usually given with the aim of correcting a deficit and optimising vitamins and nutrients in the body for improved health.
There are a few different reasons you might choose to have an IV drip:
To address vitamin deficiencies: The symptoms of vitamin deficiencies can have a direct impact on how you feel which can affect the quality of your day-to-day life. IV drips allow deficiency to be treated without needing to wait months to see the benefits.
To improve longevity: It’s not just health enthusiasts who want to look after their future health. Many of us are familiar with the heartbreak of watching older friends and family members become ill. More and more, we are seeing patients who want to take steps now to reduce the risk of chronically ill health in old age so they can maintain independence and live well for longer.
To support chronic health conditions: We often see patients who have chronic health conditions such as long COVID, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS/MS), and MS. These conditions can cause issues with micronutrient absorption and IV drips can help bypass those issues to help the cells get what they need to function better.
To support and optimise your health: When administered in conjunction with an assessment of your medical history, concerns, lifestyle and goals, IV drips can be a really helpful tool for maintaining good health and keeping your body functioning optimally – particularly if you have a demanding lifestyle.
Learn how IV drips work.
There is no simple yes or no answer to this question. It largely depends on your health status and the specific reason for use. But in our experience, supporting individuals from all walks of life, IV drips can have a significantly positive impact. Many of our patients have commented that their health issues are much improved, even after a single treatment.
You might assume micronutrient deficiencies would be rare in the twenty-first century, but they remain surprisingly common. In fact, it is estimated that around 2 billion people worldwide have insufficient micronutrients. Although no comprehensive data exists on total vitamin deficiencies across the UK population, studies of individual deficiencies indicate they affect substantial numbers of people. For example:
B12: An analysis of data from the NHS reveals that hospital admissions for B12 deficiency anaemia increased four-fold between 1998/99 and 23/24. It is likely that the number of people with a deficiency is even higher.
Vitamin D: A report from the Department of Health and Social Care found that 1 in 6 adults in the UK have insufficient levels of vitamin D. But again, this is only reported cases, and the real figures are likely to be much higher. We offer vitamin D testing in our clinic and can provide results within 15 minutes.
As a medical clinic, we are held to the highest standards, which is why we only use products with exceptional quality, superior bioavailability, and excellent purity from trusted suppliers. We source our vitamins from world-leading, ethical EU and German specialists. You can rest assured that our IV drip ingredients are preservative-free and are freshly mixed and prepared in the clinic for you. This also means they can be tailored to your specific needs.
