Although a certain amount of free radicals are produced naturally by our cells and are unavoidable, for individuals who live or work in cities, the number of free radicals can be much higher as a result of exposure to the likes of pollution, cigarette smoke, and stress. The issue is that free radicals lead to oxidative stress. It is this oxidative stress that can lead to tissue and cell damage which not only causes signs of ageing, but can contribute to disease.

Vitamin C: This powerful multi-tasking antioxidant and anti-inflammatory plays an important role in protecting against oxidative stress, working to neutralise and remove the toxins that cause DNA damage and contribute to both ageing and disease.
Zinc: Zinc has important protective qualities against cellular ageing and plays a key role in cellular antioxidant defence, as well as in the maintenance of healthy DNA and skin. Zinc deficiency becomes more common as we get older as our ability to absorb it decreases, but a deficiency can lead to excessive oxidative stress which damages the cells. It is a powerful tool for fighting chronic inflammation and strengthening the immune system.
Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA): ALA is a potent antioxidant that works to neutralise harmful free radicals and oxidative stress, thereby reducing inflammation in the cells. It has the unique ability to regenerate itself alongside other antioxidants such as vitamin C, vitamin E, glutathione, CoQ10 and Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NAD).
