Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN)

Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) is a treatment that encourages the body to produce its own feel-good neurotransmitters like endorphins through a negative feedback mechanism.

These endorphins are able to either help boost the immune system where it is low, like in cancers or HIV; or it modulates the immune system where it is hyperreactive like in autoimmune conditions and gut issues. This means that the body now has enough of the right kind of ‘soldiers’ to target and solve health issues using its own innate intelligence. Because this is all done by your own endorphins, LDN is extremely safe. LDN has been used for a wide range of health concerns in patients with autoimmune diseases, cancers, HIV, MS, SLE, Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis, amongst others.

How can LDN help you?

“The turnaround with LDN has been nothing short of miraculous, and a real game changer. After 4 months, the turnaround has been dramatic. I can sleep for 9 - 11 hours, of good quality sleep (8 out of 10), and things are improving at a faster rate. Energy levels are higher, brain fog has lifted, and most dramatic of all, my mood has improved 100%. I no longer feel depressed, despite being suboptimal. I wake up happier, relaxed, and with a positive mindset, excited about the future. The key to LDN was definitely perseverance. Each stage caused initial upset, and then the reward phase followed. The big pay off being 4 months down the line. Definitely worth the wait. Without the help of Dr Bains and Harpal Clinic, I would not have made this breakthrough.”

We can provide Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) as an adjunct to your current management by your doctors. Please assume a minimum of 3 months of being on LDN before you start to notice a difference if any, although in the majority of people, this can be much sooner.

Why choose us?

  • Our GMC registered doctors are able to assess your individual medical situation and prescribe without any NHS or other referrals. This is particularly important for patients who may still be waiting for a diagnosis but would prefer to be proactive about managing their own health
  • Same week bookings are usually available for LDN membership doctor consultations. Call us today to discuss availability
  • Our clinic is at the forefront of advances in LDN research and as such, we have a wealth of experience in managing many different types of medical issues and also for LDN for longevity as a preventative measure
  • Dr. Harpal Bains, our Medical Director and founder, is dedicated to advancing practitioner education, particularly through her work with the LDN Research Trust. She actively contributes by delivering lectures and presenting case studies, sharing her expertise and insights with fellow practitioners
  • You will be working with a doctor that specialises in functional medicine and longevity medicine, as well as a specialised health coach who will guide and support you through your LDN journey. In our experience, providing a prescription alone without robust clinical patient support tends to yield less favourable results overall. Working with a doctor that takes your full case history into account, both initially and longer term as you continue with LDN therapy makes a large difference for our patients.
  • We are able to manage complex medical cases, where more than LDN may be required as our doctors are also specialised in functional medicine, hormone optimisation therapy, and longevity medicine. You will have the option to continue on to one of our larger consultation pathways if your doctor advises that it would be useful for you, and if choose to do so. Please note, the cost of the initial LDN consultation will be deducted from the cost of the larger consultation you continue with.
  • Our medical team can accommodate face-to-face, video consultations and phone consultations.
  • We are able to cater to the whole of the UK, including delivery of medication.

Where possible, we ask for:

  • Your primary carer (GP or specialist) is aware and supportive of you being here (not compulsory)
  • You have blood results within the past 3 months (not compulsory)
  • You bring in other relevant investigations that you have done, e.g. imaging reports etc. (not compulsory)

Whilst this is not strictly necessary, we prefer to work with your main doctors as LDN is still in its infancy.

Whilst this is not strictly necessary, we prefer to work alongside your main doctors. This is because, although naltrexone is a very well established and safe drug, its use in very low doses is considered off-label and so many doctors are not familiar with it. Being able to share your progress with your GP may help educate them and inspire them to guide others better in similar situations.

How do you take LDN?

LDN is available in various forms:

  • Sublingual – Our most popular option as it bypasses gut absorption whilst you’re figuring out your dose. Most people continue to stay on this. Contents: cellulose, trace of lactose, glycerol.
  • Capsules – These are useful once your ideal dose has been established as it can be made bespoke to any dose. Chemical and lactose-free.

LDN membership programme

Step 1 – Initial medical consultation (£195)

Before we can prescribe LDN, a one-off, standalone 30-minute medical consultation is required. This allows our doctor to assess your full medical history, discuss your symptoms and goals, and determine if LDN is an appropriate and safe option for you.

This includes:

  • A tailored assessment of your suitability for LDN
  • A doctor’s letter summarising your personalised treatment plan and any relevant medical recommendations
  • Suggestions for other health areas to explore, if applicable

Please note: This non-refundable fee covers your doctor’s time, expertise and guidance. It applies whether or not you proceed with our LDN monthly membership.

Step 2 – Optional LDN membership (£72.50/month)

If you’re a good candidate for treatment, we will invite you to join our monthly LDN membership programme.

This includes:

  • Your prescription and medication, delivered every 3 months directly to your door
  • Ongoing clinical follow-ups (15 minutes at 3 months, then every 6 months)
  • Health coaching
  • Access to phone and email support for LDN-related issues
  • Member-only pricing on select clinic services

Looking to explore your health more deeply?

We offer advanced consultation pathways that allow you to explore wider health concerns beyond LDN. Your doctor can advise if this might be appropriate for you. Your initial medical consultation fee can be credited towards this, should you choose to continue your care with us.
