IV Vitamin Therapy

Liver IV Drip

Liver IV Drip
Restore optimum liver function

The liver is a major detoxification organ, and excessive intake of anything that overloads it may impact its function. Examples include alcohol, excessive fat intake (obesity), viral infections (e.g. hepatitis), and excessive intake of medications (particularly paracetamol).

The liver IV drip helps reduce toxic load on the liver by restoring optimum liver function, allowing your body to fully excrete toxins.

“Heavy alcohol intake can damage the liver. This damage affects how efficiently the liver removes toxins from the body, and can impact how the body absorbs nutrients. This can not only lead to malabsorption, but a build up of toxins in the body. When toxins build up, this can result in symptoms which affect daily life and your long term health. Our liver IV drip helps restore optimum liver function, by ensuring your liver gets all the nutrients it needs to help repair, regenerate and detoxify at a cellular level.”

Our liver IV drip is ideal if you are a frequent drinker. For example, if you work in the City where regular socialising and drinking is often an expected part of the job.

It is also useful if you eat out a lot and are exposed to trans fats or industrialised cooking oils, require a lot of medications or if you have a history of chronic viral infection that may affect the liver.

The liver IV drip can help:

  • Decrease toxic load on the liver
  • Increase liver efficiency
  • Maintain optimal liver function
  • Protect your liver from the effects of alcohol

Symptoms of poor liver detoxification

When alcohol is consumed, it moves through the GI tract and enters the liver. Once it arrives at the liver, the alcohol is detoxified by enzymes, and converted into a more water-soluble form. It is then carried to the kidneys, where it is excreted in urine. The effectiveness of this process can vary from person to person, with factors such as age, sex, body weight and pre-existing or underlying medical issues influencing the process.

How do you know if your body isn’t detoxing as well as it should be? The main symptom of poor detoxification in the liver is sluggishness. Physically, you may feel as if you have low energy and you are slow to complete tasks. Mentally, you might feel a lack of motivation, brain fog and an inability to concentrate.

Other symptoms may include:

  • Digestive issues
  • Food cravings
  • Muscle and joint aches and pains
  • Insomnia
  • Depression and/or anxiety
  • Skin issues
  • Headaches
  • Your medications are not working and you feel like you need to increase the dose
  • Your medications feel too strong to the point where you have side effects

The liver IV drip contains:

  • Myers cocktail (Vitamin C, B complex (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and B12) Magnesium)
  • 600mg glutathione
  • 50ml Immune amino acid blend (L-arginine-HCl 1000mg, L-lysine-HCl, L-glutamine, taurine, glycine, N-acetyl-L-cysteine each 500mg, L-methionine 250mg)

For the liver drip, we generally recommend a course of at least 3 treatments where possible for optimum benefit.

Myers cocktail: The Myers cocktail is one of the most popular IV drips at our clinic thanks to its ideal blend of ingredients designed to promote overall wellness. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that strengthens your immune system. Those who drink heavily may have trouble absorbing B vitamins efficiently. Magnesium helps preserve liver function.

Glutathione: Often referred to as the ‘master antioxidant’, glutathione is naturally occurring in the liver. It facilitates the excretion of toxins from cells in the body, by turning fat-soluble toxins into water-soluble toxins so the body can eliminate them.

Immune amino acid blend: This is an amino acid blend designed to assist the body in making proteins that are vital for normal functioning. This blend comprises:

  • L-arginine-HCl: This supports normal liver detoxification processes
  • L-lysine-HCl: The body cannot make lysine; it must be obtained through diet. Lysine has anti-inflammatory properties and helps the body to absorb other nutrients, including calcium, iron and zinc.
  • L-glutamine: This amino acid is required for detoxification to happen in the liver.
  • N-acetyl L-cysteine (NAC): This contributes towards the liver’s detoxification processes.
  • Taurine: This anti-inflammatory supports liver health and helps protect liver cells against oxidative stress.
  • Glycine: This amino acid is an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory needed for liver detoxification.
  • L-methionine: This has antioxidant properties that can help inhibit oxidative stress, which can damage the liver.

Alcohol causes damage to organs, including the liver. This damage can affect how these key organs absorb, digest, and use nutrients, which can lead to malnutrition. As a result, those who drink heavily often have vitamin A, B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B6 (pyridoxine), C (ascorbic acid), and folic acid deficiencies. Damage can also lead to issues with how efficient the liver is at removing toxins from the body. When toxins build up, this can lead to symptoms which affect daily life and long term health.

We help ensure your body has everything it needs to function optimally on a cellular level.

Your experience of IV vitamin therapy at Harpal Clinic begins with a consultation with our IV nurse. This is included in the cost of your first appointment. The nurse consultation is an opportunity to tell us about any symptoms you may have, talk us through your health goals and receive answers to any questions you may have.

Where needed, we can tailor your IV drip to address your body’s specific needs.

Unlike other clinics, our drips are not pre-mixed and left on a shelf to oxidise (spoil) – we mix them freshly for you at your appointment.

We take a functional approach to your health which means that we don’t just give you a drip and send you on your way. With expert diagnostic screening available, we can uncover and treat underlying issues too.
